Everywhere I (Paul Wakfer) read, more than ever before, I see exaggerations, logical flaws, misinterpretations of statistical terms, unclear uses of ambiguous words, incorrect usages of words, distortions of concepts, irrational biases, deceit, inconsistency and convoluted thinking. Whether or not any of this is intentional is extremely hard to detect and impossible to prove without the admission of the perpetrator, but, in any case, is not my purpose in this blog. Rather the purpose of this blog is merely to present examples of all of the above, and by analyzing them fully, to help the reader discover the flaws within. In this way, over the course of time, the principles behind making such thorough analysis and flaw detection will become a way of life to the constant reader, so that s/he will thereby not only be able to read more effectively, but also will be able to write and speak in a clear, forthright, fully communicative manner.
